Artist's Statement
My art is an outgrowth of living in a media driven 21st century urban environment. A walk down a city street is a dynamic visual cacophony of pre-determined order and chaotic randomness. The daily conscious and perfunctory viewing of billboards, signage and magazine advertising informs and infuses my art.
Working with text and imagery culled from fashion magazines and other periodicals, I examine and scrutinize the covert, subliminal messages imbedded in the media. The subsequent visuals explore ideas and values of beauty and perfection, consumption and objectification.
